About

People Risk Consulting was started by Dr. Diane Dye. But before she was Dr. Diane Dye, she was Diane Hansen, a gal who had just had another falling out with her boss over personal situations at home she didn’t feel like disclosing. That experience led to her dissertation, Disclosure of Abuse to Empowerment, which helps leaders understand that sometimes performance problems are deeper than they seem.

Career #1: Marketing Communications

Career one for Diane was in marketing, where she worked in the entertainment industry. After the tech-wreck post 9-11 and the recession, her career took a beating. So she decided to strike out on her own. The beginning of her love of getting past the no started when she was 8 years old in Devine, Texas, growing up poor after a bad business decision and her parent’s divorce. But the catalyst came from a marketing client turned business plan advisory client. They were on their way to the top of the beauty industry when they turned down a $1 million dollar angel investment because they wanted to keep control.

She had to do something about it.

She opened What Works Coaching in 2011 after working as a ghost writer for a big name in the personal development space. What Works Coaching evolved into What Works Consultants in 2016, when she was laid off four months into her Master of Communication Management program at the University of Southern California (USC), she knew it was time to get serious about organizational change and communication.

Career #2: Organizational Change and Leadership Advisory

After obtaining her Masters degree, and writing her thesis, Creating Critical Opportunity, the pandemic hit. She published the workbook, Creating Critical Opportunity as a practical guide for businesses facing major disruptive change.

She used it to keep business owners from telling themselves no – keeping business doors open during the pandemic. Well, really one set of doors she knows of. And they are still close trusted clients today.

In 2022, Diane headed back to USC to pursue a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Change and Leadership. She moved back to her home state of Texas and found herself in Austin, TX.

Now Both Careers Work Together

Today, she operates People Risk Consulting as an advisory firm. The advisory firm is a holding company for all of her IP, frameworks, unique joy-driven decision environments, and creative projects, including the Brave Business podcast, Critical Opportunity, BRAVER, DIVERGE, and the Evidence-Based Decision Model. Diane enjoys researching and developing new models, speaking, snuggling with her pets, and spending time with her partner.

Dr. Dye’s Frameworks Were Developed By Helping Herself

Get Out of the Bored Room is based on the exact strategy that got Diane out of deep depression and anxiety when, after 10 years in business, she had lost her passion and was considering closing the doors forever. BRAVER decisions were made. And now, PRC is more focused than ever on helping leaders innovate and make decisions when they are at a crossroads.

Are you? Welcome.
